Do you have a recommended minimum age for any of the activities?
For the ceramic painting, there is no minimum age. Parental supervision is required for children.
Do we need to pre-order the items we want to work on?
Yes, we do recommend pre-ordering items especially for a large group or a birthday party. Making your selection and ordering 2-3 weeks before the party date helps us to ensure we have the items you prefer from our suppliers. We recommend choosing your 3 favourite items so that your guests can select the one they like most. We are more than happy to assist with popular age appropriate ideas.
How does your pricing work?
All ceramic items are priced all inclusive of :
- The raw bisque
- Your time with us - please note on the weekends we may need to limit your visit to a max of 2 & 1/2 hours which is more than enough time to complete a ceramic masterpiece
- Paint (over 60 colours)
- Use of materials - stencils, stickers, sponges, scratching tools
- Firing and glazing – done on the premises
The average price range is between R260 to R300 per piece. This category includes all the different styles of mugs, cups and saucers, side plates up to dinner plates, all 3 sizes of flower pots, medium bowls and platters, sugar pots and milk jugs.
Smaller items such as little dishes, spoon rests, small bowls, tea bag holders, and egg cups would range between R150 and R200.
Children’s items, the likes of unicorns, teddy bears, money boxes, tortoises, elephants, bunnies, cats, dogs and trinket boxes all priced between R250 and R300.
* prices are a rough guide as of September 2025, but subject to change without notice
Does the café serve food?
No, we serve a range of cold drinks (eg appletiser, juice, coke and the BOS ice tea range) plus hot drinks (milo, cappuccino, tea and hot chocolate).
We do also sell basic snacks, chips and sweets but you are more than welcome to bring in your own treats or something to eat.
For parties or large groups, you can also organise your own catering, we will set up a table for you (advance booking required).
Tea and coffee served as well.
Will definitely be back again!!
The Cafe is chilled, inviting, and accommodates everyone including kids. A place to catch up or breathe outside of one's busy life or if you wanna try something new.
I like that you can bring your own snacks. The staff is nice. We ordered drinks and the tea tasted amazing from their cafe-made tea set. Unfortunately, we're only going to get our finished 'works of art' in a month or so because of a backlog with the firing - loadshedding is the culprit!

Color Cafe has a nice atmosphere, reasonable prices (you only pay for the ceramic item you choose so prices vary according to that and that amount covers your time there which is 2hrs if it's busy but if it's not a busy day you're allowed to stay as long as you want till they close)
We had a great experience painting, they sell beverages but i think it would be nice to also offer cookies or snacks to nibble on while painting.
The staff is very friendly and helpful
Cons:
They say due to loadshedding and stuff they're behind on getting the complete ceramic item back to customers so the waiting period to get your item is about 3 months at the moment.
They also don't have a system that sends customers a text or message to say that their item is ready for collection, you have to keep an eye out on their Instagram page to see when items from the month you came in have been announced ready for collection.
You also need to have taken pictures of your item as proof of which one is yours because they don't keep track of that except for the item price and generic description on the payment slip. It's your responsibility to have picture proof.
